Vaghareli Khichdi

Since the name itself is Khichdi… and its a Gujarati Food.. why not start with a Gujarati Dish ? … here is the Recip of Vaghareli Khichdi ….



  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Rice
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Tuar Daal
  • Coriander
  • Green Chili
  • Cumin Seeds
  • Chilled Tomato
  • Spring Onion [ Optional ]
  • Green Garlic [ Optional ]


  1. Wash Rice and Tuar Daal Together
  2. Add Salt & a Pinch of Turmeric and cook in pressure cooker.
  3. Make a Past Of Green Chili, Ginger & Garlic.
  4. Cut Onion long strips
  5. Cut finely Spring Onion, Green Garlic, Coriander & Tomato, keep aside
  6. Take a thick Pan, Put oil and heat it .
  7. When heated add Cumin Seeds, then Onion and then Ginger-Garlic-Chili paste.
  8. Stir and cook for one Minuit.
  9. Now add Cooked Rice and Daal into it and mix well.
  10. Cook for 3 To 4 Minuit’s.
  11. When its mixed well and done, garnish it with Coriander, Spring Onion/Green Garlic & Tomato
  12. Serve hot with cold Tomato over it.
